Emotional Puzzle, 2019
Ralph Pucci is debuting one-of-a-kind murals by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac on its Wynwood gallery walls in Miami. Castelbajac’s Emotional Puzzle on the Ralph Pucci facade is a succession of iconic squares representing archetypal prints that he has been using for 40 years in his fashion work. This is the cohabitation of his symbolic traces which are like suggestive wallpaper.
Jean-Charles Castelbajac has been a self-described “creator” since 1968, and is best known for his exuberant, colourful clothing, including a coat of teddy bears and Farrah Fawcett’s costumes in Charlie’s Angels. He is considered a pioneer of cartoon and pop art fashion and is currently the artistic director of Benetton.
His passion for design has led to collaborations, always boldly coloured, with Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe and many others.
Castelbajac’s work has been exhibited at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
